With an initial enrollment of 863 learners in 2017, the school recognized the need to bridge the digital divide and embrace Information Technology (IT) as an integral part of their curriculum. This forward-thinking approach makes Mzokhanyo High School the first no-fee paying school in the Eastern Cape to offer IT as a subject, marking a significant milestone in their commitment to empowering students with essential technological skills.
The Challenge
Mzokhanyo High School faced the challenge of limited access to technology and interactive learning resources, hindering students’ educational growth. With the support of SITA Aero and South African Airways, the school aimed to address this disparity and provide students with a digitally immersive learning experience. This collaborative effort aimed to bridge the digital divide and empower students with modern technology, interactive learning resources, and improved educational opportunities.
The Solution
Compuclinic, in collaboration with the sponsors, designed and implemented an innovative interactive computer lab solution at Mzokhanyo High School. The solution included a structured cabled network, state-of-the-art Lenovo all-in-one computer hardware, an interactive smartboard, and classroom management software allowing the teacher to efficiently control, monitor and support the computer lab. The joint effort of Compuclinic, SITA Aero, and South African Airways ensured the successful deployment of this transformative solution.
